About Kimberly

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Kimberly Chmielewski is a working professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher.  She graduated magna cum laude from The University of Iowa, receiving her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and Honors in Dance with a focus on pedagogy, choreography, and performance and a BA in Sociology.  Currently, Ms. Chmielewski is the co-artistic director of jk-co, company dancer with Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Maureen Breeze Dance Theatre, Nu-World Contemporary Danse Theatre, and is a free-lance performance artist and choreographer. 

Receiving the “Outstanding Choreographer” award at the prestigious international Youth American Grand Prix Competition in 2018, Kimberly has had the privilege of presenting and setting work across the states and internationally. Kimberly previously danced for Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet, Moraporvida Contemporary Dance, APEX Dance, BaiKo, Choreographer’s Collective, and Kim Robards Dance. 

Ms. Chmielewski began her training under the direction of George de la Peña, Greg Begley, Judith Svalander, Altin Naska, Lawrence Pech, Christine Spizzo, and at institutions such as The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensives, and with Nina Watt of the José Limón Trust, Alonzo King, Michael Medcalf, and Johanna Rosenthal-Read.
